      N - SHELL FRACTIONAL CROSS-SECTION DATA INFLUENCED BY THE ABOVE
      AUTHORS.

             ONLY THE SIGMA(TOTAL) AND SIGMA(N) ARE USED.              
      THE ASYMPTOTIC PROJECTION SLOPE'S ALPHA ARE INFERRED             
      AS A PREFERRED CURVE FROM THE BEHAVIOUR AND SPREAD OF VALUES
      FROM SUBDOMINANT PAIRS OF SIGMA(N) VALUES.                       
      A TAIL CORRECTION IS NOT INCLUDED SO ITAIL=0                     

      THE PREFERRED TOTAL IS AS IN IONATOM.DATA(H).
                                                                       
      LFORMA ,XLCUTA, PL2A AND PL3A ARE DERIVED BY FITTING SIGMA(N,L)
      USING THE A-D-A-S ENTRY PROGRAMME FOR CHARGE EXCHANGE DATA
      FOR PRINCIPAL QUANTUM SHELL N=8. A PREFERRED CURVE IS
      DEVELOPED FROM AN ASSESSMENT BY KONIG (JUNE 1990) INCLUDING
      OTHER HYDROGENIC IONS.

      FRITSCH MAY ALTER THE LOW ENERGY DATA IN THE LIGHT OF
      DETAILED WORK ON THE EFFECT OF EXCITED HYDROGEN STATES.  THE
      PRESENT DATA OF FRITSCH EXCLUDES(?) PASSAGE THROUGH EXCITED
      HYDROGEN STATES IN THE COLLISION.

   L-SPLITTING IS RECONSTITUTED FROM THE JET N-SHELL RESOLUTION DATA 
   BLOCK USING  ITS L-SHELL FORM PARAMETERS.  THE DATA SET THUS EXACTLY
   MATCHES THE JET DATA SET IN APPLICATION.  NOTE THE L-SHELL FORM
   PARAMETERS ARE OPTIMIMISED AROUND THE N-SHELLS RESPONSIBLE FOR 
   VISIBLE LINE CHARGE EXCHANGE SPECTROSCOPY EMISSION.
